All But Romance Exchange 2026 Letter
Apr. 26th, 2026 06:35 pmDear All But Romance Writer (and other interested folks -- I love getting treats, too!)
Thank you for signing up to write for one of my fandoms! I'm azhdarchidaen on Ao3/astriiformes on tumblr, if you feel inclined to snoop and get a better idea of my interests. As an aro/ace person who adores genfic and primarily genfic, I'm very excited about this exchange, and really looking forward to seeing what you create!
General things I enjoy:
モブサイコ100 | Mob Psycho 100 (Relationships requested: Kurata Tome & Reigen Arataka; Reigen Arataka & Serizawa Katsuya; Kurata Tome & Serizawa Katsuya; Kurata Tome & Reigen Arataka & Serizawa Katsuya; Kageyama Ritsu & Reigen Arataka; Dimple & Kurata Tome; Dimple & Reigen Arataka)
My queerplatonic partner introduced me to Mob Psycho 100 a little while ago (it's her favorite anime) and I have absolutely fallen in love with it. My favorite characters are probably Reigen & Tome, but the whole cast is just so wonderful, and there's so many interesting things you can do with the setting, ghosts & possession, and with various characters' powers! I also just have such a soft spot for some of the main themes of the show -- the idea that relationships & connection are critical to how we move through the world, that everyone is capable of change, and that it's important to accept even the parts of yourself that you're scared of. As someone who has historically struggles with loneliness and the fear of hurting others, it all just really hits home. Since Reigen & Tome are my favorites I've requested various relationship featuring one or both of them, but I'd love to see any of the ones I requested, really, and I'm absolutely open to the inclusion of other MP100 character if they suit your story. And I've read the spin-off manga, so references to that are perfectly welcome, too. :)
You're welcome to brainstorm your own fic based off my likes and dislikes (and that goes for any of the other fandoms I chose, too), but if you're looking for some more specific prompts:
ダンジョン飯 | Dungeon Meshi | Delicious in Dungeon (Relationships Requested: Marcille Donato & Laios Touden; Marcille Donato & Falin Touden & Laios Touden; Kabru & Laios Touden; Marcille Donato & Senshi & Chilchuck Tims & Laios Touden)
Man, where do I even start. Dungeon Meshi makes me so happy -- I adore the characters, the worldbuilding, the expertly crafted narrative, the way the themes are so intricately woven into the story... it's all really, well, delicious. I especially love Laios, as an autistic person who really understands a lot about the way he sees the world (or sometimes doesn't), but the dynamics of the whole main party are really really good. The magic system is equally fascinating and has some amazing whump and hurt/comfort potential, and I always enjoy some extra magical worldbuilding tossed in for good measure. Post-canon stories are an intriguing concept to me (I've read the whole manga, so don't worry about spoilers) -- how does Laios handle the situation he ends up in at the end of the story and how do his friends help him with it? I would also, of course, enjoy a story set during or diverging from canon though. It's your choice!
More specific prompts:
Rivers of London (Relationships requested: Peter Grant & Thomas Nightingale, Molly (Rivers of London) & Thomas Nightingale, Abigail Kamara & Thomas Nightingale, Thomas Nightingale & Varvara Sidorovna Tamonina)
A friend got me hooked on the Rivers of London series last year, partially because they'd been pitching it to me for years and partially because after Nightingale was confirmed to be aro/ace, I got a lot more interested! But now that I've finally checked them out, I get it. I love the amazing worldbuilding and really all the unique and diverse characters, I love the magic system and the clever premises for all the mysteries in the series (good urban fantasy is so my jam, and RoL feels like it avoids a lot of the pitfalls that sometimes bug me with the genre), I love the Folly crew so, so much and the things the series has to say about community and support. I'd really like to read a story centered on Nightingale, which is why all of the relationships I requested feature him in some way, and the other characters I've included are some of my other favorites. But I'm also very open to the inclusion of just about anyone else, too, if it suits the story (for example, I know Dr. Walid would be a really great character to have in a casefic or a whumpier story). Also, if you're writing fic, I very much prefer RoL stories that are written in first-person, like the books, whoever you choose as your narrator.
Timeline-wise, I've read almost all the books at this point, but I'm mid-way through False Value currently. I've also read three of the novellas -- What Abigail Did That Summer, The Furthest Station, and The Masquerades of Spring -- and most of the comics up to the point I'm at in canon.

- Platonic relationships of all sorts, especially seeing them given the same weight and diversity as romantic relationships. I like when friendships are complicated but close, I love a queerplatonic relationship, and I even enjoy relationships where it's hard to say exactly what's going on, just that it's not romantic!
- Relatedly, aromantic and asexual headcanons! I love love love when people write characters as aro/ace, especially when they really put in the work thinking about how a particular character might related to aro/ace identity (Do they know it even exists? Are they struggling with internalized aphobia? Are they comfortable with who they are?).
- Hurt/comfort and whump. I am a huge whump fan, and not particularly squeamish about characters having a rough time (although if you are, fear not -- some good old angst is always welcome, too). This is probably my single favorite trope, if I'm being honest.
- For fic, I really like stories with a little more plot, versus things on the fluffy end of the spectrum. Casefic and mysteries, dramatic rescues, canon-typical shenanigans and adventures, you name it. I like it when things get a little tense, people get hurt, and everyone has to work together to solve a problem or save a friend.
- Similarly, canon divergence! I love stories that explore what-ifs, alternate timelines, and different ways things could have gone. Especially to whumpy effect.
- Explorations of mental health issues and/or disability, especially ones that are present in or informed by canon.
- Well-researched fic that explores interesting topics. I absolutely love learning something new from a story.
- I am a sucker for interesting symbolism, in fic and art both.
- Most of my usual DNWs are sex/romance-related, but since this exchange is sort of based off avoiding that, I don't have nearly as much to put here! Still, I would prefer there be no non-canon ships, even in the background.
- Second person writing -- I only like it under very specific circumstances, so for the sake of ease I'd prefer you avoid it.
- Non-canon character death. Again, something I only like under very specific circumstances.
- Soulmate AUs (yes, even platonic ones)

- I loooove aromantic and asexual Reigen headcanons so much. It feels like such a fascinating way to interpret some things about him as a character -- the way he always gets sort of uncomfortable and out of his depth when sex and romance come up, especially, and the loneliness he deals with over the course of the show, too. Similarly I really like when people write him as explicitly ADHD or as a trans man, or as dealing with a disability as a result of getting knocked around so much as a non-esper in canon, so any combination of those things would make me very happy.
- I love both Reigen and Serizawa and wish desperately that there was more gen content with the two of them, because I think it's an interesting way to view their relationship (and also Reigen is just so deeply aro/ace in my mind). How does Serizawa feel about have a new boss that cares a lot more about him as a person, even if Reigen doesn't always show it? Does he know that Reigen doesn't have any powers? Do they end up in a situation where he finds that out? (That is an especially interesting idea to me!) How do they both feel about finally actually having a real, adult friend?
- Possession.... it's so interesting how Mob Psycho 100 treats it as something that can be both a violation and a form of trust/intimacy. For relationships involving Dimple, absolutely feel free to poke at the latter, but I'm also very much into the crew dealing with more distressing situations with other ghosts.
- I love Tome's obsession with space and aliens a lot. It's endearing and also makes for some gorgeous art opportunities. We love to see a weird girl winning, truly.
- It always makes me happy when people create fanworks about Reigen & Ritsu that acknowledges that they don't, like, hate each other? Ritsu can be a little bit of a sarcastic teenager towards Reigen, but it's clear there's at least a little bit of a positive relationship there, and if you wanted to explore that (Maybe a scenario where Reigen's protective side towards all the kids comes out?) I'd love to see it.
- Works exploring the hazards that Reigen and Tome have to deal with as non-espers who are constantly surrounding themselves with spirits (...and such)!! There's a very real risk there, and that can lead to some interesting whump or hurt/comfort, but also -- what keeps them coming back? Why do they care about this being a part of their lives? I think those are really interesting questions.
ダンジョン飯 | Dungeon Meshi | Delicious in Dungeon (Relationships Requested: Marcille Donato & Laios Touden; Marcille Donato & Falin Touden & Laios Touden; Kabru & Laios Touden; Marcille Donato & Senshi & Chilchuck Tims & Laios Touden)
Man, where do I even start. I would also, of course, enjoy a story set during or diverging from canon though. It's your choice!
More specific prompts:
- As I alluded to, I personally interpret Laios as very autistic, and a story exploring that would be so incredibly welcome. I also like to headcanon him as aro/ace, if you're interested in poking at that idea, but his autism is especially near and dear to my heart and also feels quite central to his character, and is definitely something I can see providing some interesting fic material.
- Anything that weaves food or a recipe into a larger story in a way that mirrors canon utterly delights me in fanworks.
- Again, if you've read the manga as well, I'm really interested in the whole post-canon situation for Laios and his friends, so that's a very, very welcome prompt for someone to explore.
- Also as mentioned above, I love that the magic system has some interesting possibilities for hurt/comfort -- whether it's things going wrong, or just the messiness of Dungeon Meshi-style magic and/or resurrection.
Rivers of London (Relationships requested: Peter Grant & Thomas Nightingale, Molly (Rivers of London) & Thomas Nightingale, Abigail Kamara & Thomas Nightingale, Thomas Nightingale & Varvara Sidorovna Tamonina)

More specific prompts:
- Casefic casefic casefic -- RoL feels like it's begging for it and I would love to see it. Come up with a creative magical mystery (maybe one that interacts with Nightingale's past somehow?) or other situation the main characters have to deal with and throw them in the deep end. This would be great for a Peter & Nightingale story, obviously, (or Peter, Nightingale, & Abigail) but might also provide a fun opportunity to include some other characters, too?
- Molly and Nightingale's friendship fascinates me, so I would love a fanwork with them, either when they were younger and first meeting, during or immediately after the war, or something in the aftermath of the loss of so many wizards. Honestly even something written during canon would be great, I just love the two of them and their friendship so much!
- Nightingale dealing with some PTSD from the war, whether it's shortly after or set at the same time as the books, would also be really interesting. It'd be cool if you could weave it into a larger plot, but even just some classic angst or hurt/comfort would be great.
- Anything portraying Nightingale's canon asexuality/aromanticism would also make me so happy.
